Loads of people have been getting me excited with the song requests they are making, outfits they are preparing and other things they are searching for like bead chains and more. Look at this one that I got from Purple Turtle Beads yesterday.
Ccccccc’mon SON!!! Lol.
cmon son PTB chain
Ccccccccc’mon SON!!! See you on Monday the 27th!
…and last but not least look at this; the latest episode of Ccccccccc’mon SON!!! (C’mon SON 20) by Ed Lover son, this guy is the man! lol
I don’t know how or why, but a few weeks ago I came up with the idea to do the biggest ‘Candy Dance’ ever on record.
It makes sense as it’s done at nearly every single party I’ve played at since I’ve been a DJ, especially at weddings and I’m quite sure that you know what it is.
I was amazed when I told some people about my ‘big idea’ and they didn’t even know what the hell I was talking about! Some people call it the Electric Slide so you get a little leeway, but C’mon son! Watch it being done here:
Do you not know what this is son? If you don’t know hurry up and learn it and get to know!
The written instructions of the dance are as follows:
(On the beat) Two steps right (1-2, 1-2)
Two steps left (1-2, 1-2)
Two steps back (1,2 – 1,2) Hold
One step with left foot forward (lean forth)
One step with Right foot Lean back
Hop ‘n’ kick sideways with right
(Repeat for all 4 corners North, south, east, west)
Now, I’m not silly enough to think that somewhere in the world (especially in the US) more than 300 people haven’t done ‘the Candy dance’ all at once before, even at the 2010 Brent Respect Festival 1000+ attempted to do it together: http://www.brent.gov.uk/media.nsf/Pages/LBB-158
But, to my knowledge (and Google’s) no one has ever done it at a party on record. So, me being me, I contacted Guinness Book Of World Records and they told me that it’s a viable record to set. They’re processing the application now and we will be filming it for their review.
The ‘Candy Dance’ is usually done to the song ‘Candy’ by Cameo in 1986. Song is OLD son, but never seems to get old. It’s part of our history and seems like it will be current forever. If you haven’t seen the video before or didn’t even know it had a video, watch this:
It has some of the most memorable production ever and has been sampled loads of times, my favourite remakes are:
Will Smith – Candy
Mariah Carey – Loverboy
2Pac - All About You
And even this random UK one lol:
AND this one on roller skates at ‘Rollermotion’ looks kind of sick son:
Above all the madness, controversy and court cases that this man has gone through and put us through he is still an undenyable legend. He KILLS this! The voice and music catalogue is 2nd to none.
I present to you: Mr. Robert Kelly…

I will be getting on a train in less than 12 hours to join KOJO, KANE BROWN, ADOT, CHRIS ROYAL & SOPHIA CRAWFORD for what will be a classic showcase of London and Manchester talent; just like last time.

Good things come in 3′s…I’ve been saying that a lot these days…nobody copy that line, I might trademark it soon as they certainly seem to.
A good place for me to start with my examples of 3′s are all the excellent shows I went to over the last month.
They were:
Mary J. Blige at The O2 Arena, Greenwich on Wednesday November 2nd
Tarrus Riley at The O2 Academy, Sheperd’s Bush on Monday November 8th
Ryan Leslie at Fabric Nightclub, Shoreditch on Monday November 15th
I only went to 2 out of 3 for free though lol. Mary J Blige was courtesy of Joanna Abeyie. A very good show with energy and raw talent. Mary has still got it and I would still marry her. She put 110% into every song. Top ratings! One thing I forget sometimes is how many people know about these artists, especially when you see the variety of ages and races. The whole arena was full and singing along. Wicked!
Tarrus Riley was courtesy of O2 as tickets were totally free if you had an O2 phone and a text code. I had neither so I got my friend to text in and forward it to me. Right up to getting through the door I couldn’t believe it, thought it was too good to be true and didn’t think I was going to get in! But, I did and it was sick! Tarrus had a lot of personality and tore it down! I didn’t even know most of his songs can’t lie, but you still get drawn in. The show is part of the ‘Your Country Live’ series by O2 and I was even lucky enough to see David Rodigan live for the first time ever. He is a legend amonst many Jamaicans and reggae fans. Watching him DJ & host is like a concert in itself. He is a very intelligent and talented nutcase lol. I can’t believe the whole show was free for everyone, well worth good money. Thank you O2!
Last, but not least is Ryan Leslie who probably put on the best show in terms of intimacy with the fans, pure passion and hard work! He just did not want to go home! lol. He was on stage singing, rapping, dancing, playing instruments, kissing girls, and whatever else you can imagine him doing. This guy is a young legend and needs a lot more credit than he currently gets. If you don’t know much about him currently, please do yourself a afavour and check out his wor. He has written and produced for so may of your favourite artists.
Anyway, I managed to get 3 rubbish pictures, don’t ask why the quality is so bad it was taken on my Blackberry I don’t think it can handle all the different lights lol.

There is just something that we just love about ‘Old School’. Whether it’s music, TV, or sweets that you can’t buy anymore. I heard someone say ‘Old school like Happy Shopper’ today, do you remember that? I’ve been DJing for about 5 years now and from day one when I played a Bobby Brown, Mary J Blige, Montell Jordon or R.Kelly song from the late 80s or 90s it created something extra special in the party. Even in 2010 playing the theme song to ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’, almost anything Michael Jackson or even MC Hammer can take the roof off of any party, even when the celebrants are as young as 15 or 16.
To no surprise then; there is definitely a buzz about Fantastic Five this week (Friday October 15th). Tying in nicely with Black History Month it’s the old school event through and through that will not be playing any music past the year 2000. It is also the event where myself Marvellous Marvyn & Miss Dee are celebrating our birthdays, and it is going to be a jump off!

You are definitely missing out if you haven’t been to the event page on Facebook; the type of old school songs that my friends and I have been posting on the event wall bring back nothing but memories of good times for you, just like they have for us, I’m sure. We have been digging deep in the archives, attic and basement for the songs that mean the most to us. I thought I knew my music, but I must say that Alan, Shane, Ciara, L.A., Masta B, Marvyn & Devina have been searching their souls, it seems, for the songs that created their childhood and the people that they are today. Wow, this is more than just an event, but a musical journey down memory lane. I don’t know how we are going to get through all this music in just 5 hours?! There will definitely have to be a part 2 and 3! Tickets will be on sale on Friday lol

The outfit ideas are also coming in thick and fast. A few people aren’t sure how to dress though; like they weren’t born in the 80s or even 70s! A wah di rass man?! Lol. Just watch some of the videos on the event page once again and you’ll get some ideas I’m sure… I have a good idea of what I am going to wear, but can’t share this information right now. It’s top secret lol. This week is definitely about searching through the markets of London for those extra special touches, and with just 5 days to go I’m getting a bit anxious! I know I’ll sort it though, I always do. See you all on Friday at Fantastic Five where we rewind time.
Some footage and photos from a few weddings & prom nights that took place over the summer. VNV Sounds provided DJs, equipment, lights, photography & photo books.
